RCFG and RCFGX files contain receiving-card settings for an LED display cabinet or module. These settings can include module parameters, cabinet information, data flow and related receiving-card configuration. NovaLCT uses the file to send the prepared configuration to the receiving cards.

Important: Two LED displays with the same pixel pitch can still use different module resolutions, driver ICs, scan modes, hub boards or data routes. Do not load a file across the entire screen until it has been checked on one cabinet or a controlled test area.

Choose the display application first, then select the matching pixel pitch. Each ZIP package may contain one or more configuration files. Keep a copy of your current working file before downloading or importing a replacement.

Check these items before loading a NovaStar receiving-card configuration file:

1. Display type: indoor fixed, outdoor fixed, indoor rental or outdoor rental.
2. Pixel pitch: for example P2.604, P2.976, P3.91 or P4.81.
3. Module size and resolution: confirm the physical module dimensions and its width and height in pixels.
4. LED driver IC and scan mode: the same pitch may be built with different driver chips and scan designs.
5. Receiving card and hub board: verify the exact hardware models and connector layout.
6. Cabinet data flow: confirm the module cascade order and receiving-card mapping.
7. Refresh-rate requirement: use the file prepared for the module and driver combination rather than choosing only by a desired refresh-rate number.

If any item is unknown, ask the LED module or cabinet supplier for the original RCFG/RCFGX file. A clear photo of the module label, receiving card, hub board and driver IC helps identify the correct configuration.

1. Use a NovaLCT version supported by your NovaStar controller and receiving card.
2. Connect the control computer to the LED controller and confirm that the receiving cards are online.
3. Read the current receiving-card parameters and save a backup before changing anything.
4. Open the receiving-card configuration area and load the required .rcfg or .rcfgx file from the local computer.
5. Review the module size, cabinet layout and data-flow information before sending the configuration.
6. Send the settings to one test cabinet or a limited test area first.
7. Check color order, scan behavior, brightness, refresh performance and the full image. Save the configuration only after the test is correct.

The screen is blank or shows a scrambled image

Stop sending the file to additional cabinets. Restore the backup, then verify module resolution, scan mode, receiving-card mapping and cabinet data flow.

Colors, brightness or refresh performance are wrong

The file may have been created for a different driver IC, LED color order or module batch. Matching pixel pitch does not prove compatibility.

NovaLCT cannot open the RCFGX file

Confirm that the ZIP package has been extracted and that NovaLCT supports the file format and connected hardware. Try the software version recommended for the controller, or request an RCFG file for older systems.

The required pitch is not in the list

Use the original file from the LED screen supplier or create a configuration through NovaLCT Smart Settings with the correct module specifications. Do not rename an unrelated file or assume that the nearest pitch will work.

NovaLCT Smart Settings can be used to build receiving-card parameters when the original configuration file is unavailable. This process requires the correct module resolution, driver IC, scan type, decoding method, color order and data path. Save the new file with a descriptive name that includes the pixel pitch, module resolution, driver IC, scan mode and refresh-rate target. Test it on one cabinet before distributing it to the complete display.
