How to Choose an Outdoor LED Display Module
An outdoor LED display module is a replaceable assembly of LEDs, a circuit board, driver ICs and a mask or housing. A complete display also needs compatible cabinets, power supplies, receiving cards and a control system. Module dimensions alone do not establish compatibility.
01 Match pixel pitch to viewing distance and content
Pixel pitch is the center-to-center distance between adjacent pixels, measured in millimeters. Smaller pitches provide more pixels within the same screen area and suit closer viewing or finer text. Compare P2.5–P4 options for detailed content and P5–P10 options for larger signs viewed farther away. Choose using the nearest viewer position, actual text size and target resolution, rather than treating the pitch number as a guaranteed viewing distance.
For example, the listed 320 × 160 mm P4 module has 80 × 40 pixels, while the same-size P10 module has 32 × 16 pixels. A 10-by-10 arrangement therefore measures 3.2 × 1.6 m and provides 800 × 400 pixels with P4 or 320 × 160 pixels with P10. This is a module-layout calculation; the cabinet and supporting structure must also be designed.
02 Specify brightness, weather protection and service access
Use the brightness value for the exact model, expressed in nits (cd/m²). Select for sunlight exposure and operating hours, and plan brightness adjustment for nighttime use. The IEC 60529 IP code classifies the protection provided by electrical enclosures. IP65 protection requires the specified assembly and seals: confirm front and rear protection separately, along with cable entries, cabinet drainage and ventilation. A module rating does not automatically apply to the entire installed screen.
For front-service installations, confirm the module fixing method, service tool and compatible cabinet. A flexible mask is not the same as a flexible circuit board. For curved displays, request the permitted bending radius and mounting instructions for the specific flexible module.
03 Check replacement-module compatibility before ordering
Match pixel pitch, width and height, pixel resolution, mounting-hole positions, LED package, driver IC, scan ratio, connector pinout, supply voltage and polarity. Cable-connection and HUB-connection modules are not automatically interchangeable. Send photographs of the original module front, rear and label, plus the receiving-card model and configuration file, so the replacement can be checked.
04 Plan supply for your installation country
EagerLED is an LED display manufacturer and supplier based in Shenzhen, China. For projects in the United States, Poland or other destinations, provide the installation city, local mains supply, climate, screen dimensions and service-access requirements. Confirm the complete system’s applicable electrical, EMC and environmental documentation with your installer before ordering. Ask for the model-specific documents relevant to your market rather than assuming that a general certification claim covers every configuration.
For coastal or hot sites, specify salt exposure, humidity and expected ambient temperatures. Request a quotation stating module quantity, matching spares, accessories, shipping destination, delivery terms and lead time. Compare module-only prices separately from cabinets, control equipment, freight and installation costs.
